There is only one thing better than a perfectly ripe pineapple and that is a perfectly ripe pineapple that you grew yourself.

As the pineapples get close to ripe they also get heavy so tipping can be a problem. Pineapples are ripe when all of the little eyes are roughly the same size and mostly round. The more yellow it is when you pick it, the sweeter it will be. And you know you got it perfect when the core is soft when you cut into it.

The next best thing about home grown pineapple? You can take the top off of it and do it again.
