First thing that I thought of when I read your original post was a couple of tracks from two modern bands that have a kind of retro-futuristic sound.

There's another band called Seksu Roba who have a similar sound. Again, I think that either the tracks "Venus Mysterious" or "Galaxina Fantasy Screw" (nice title!) off their first album - http://www.amazon.com/Seksu-Roba/dp/B00004WIIA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1284902032&sr=1-1 - could work well. (Please note that the second Seksu Roba album "Pleasure Vibrations" is a lot more dance orientated and really won't be what you're looking for)
