Reviving this old thread on the "Rarotongan Tiki" that Cargoes by Carter imported from Samoa circa 1956 to 1960. Just found evidence of another one in Hawaii from a United Air Lines brochure dated 1963:


:up: looks like it was painted at one time and has weathered for a few years.

For comparison, here was the one at Disneyland:

And here's a similar one, more finely carved, at a Kon Tiki restaurant, from Sven's "Tiki Style" book

It would be cool to see the original large-format photos of Maureen Thompson's tiki from the first page of this thread, or even current pictures of the tiki at Bongofury's house. Does anyone have any?
