Actually it's some sort of low-pile self-padded stuff that was put down there in 1975....it just never got used much by the previous owners so it stayed in acceptable condition. We are looking at some commercial Hibiscus-patterned carpet (like the stuff at most Trader Vic's locations) to replace it when the household coffers catch a lucky streak.
