The lidded bowl appears to be used for holding something and the bace is quite obviously flat to keep the contents from spilling.I cant say for sure what the figures are doing ...rowing ,churning butter, but no matter is is most likely symbolic of an activity that in some way represents their hard work and skills as craftsmen and survivors. I'd say it's ornamental or as stated used for " holding weed " ( yes I'm just having fun! ) Looks cool!
