The Wanganui thread really fascinated me and is but one of too-numerous-to-count examples illustrating the richness of the TC forums. After the recent server crashes, I was pondering the ephemeral nature of digital data on the web and thinking what a loss it would be for all of us if the accumulated wealth of TC’s contributions were to be lost, if nothing else but for eventually outgrowing affordable server storage capacity, or if Hanford moves on with no successor.

I value this forum for both the extemporaneous exchange with other members and keeping current on what’s happening. I also value it for reference, however trivial or esoteric the subject may be. For the latter, I was wondering if Hanford (with editorial help of members) has ever considered publishing a TC compilation in various categories, entitled, for example, Reflections on Tiki: Selected Threads from the Tiki Central Forums - 2000 to 2011, available as an eBook on CD or DVD and/or in print (no intended significance in the resulting title acronym, ROT).

Anyone have their own thoughts on this? Am I just digitally paranoid, having encountered too many broken web links and missing graphics? Too many legal hurdles to address? Should I just leave it to the enterprising few to mine the data and publish on a more focused topic? Or, don’t worry, be happy?
