Swizzle since you are on your way let me tell you what Babalu told me. Glaze Test, Glaze Test, Glaze Test. The photos of glazes in the order books and even the chips in the shops do not represent the colors well enough. Before glazing your art test the glaze. I copied Babalu's glaze test wall and it works well for me. But MadDogMike and MauiTiki have other ways of doing this that I envy. I make clay "L's" and bisque fire them. Next I paint the glaze in three strips on each. 1, 2 and 3 layers of glaze and fire again. Oh but first I use an underglaze pencil on the bottom to label them and I record all the information in a binder. When I go to glaze something I go to my wall and choose the colors L's and take them and the jars with me to where I'm painting. Babalu's wall of test strips. Some of my test strips in the kiln.
