I can't help with the building part of it, but I'm sure if anyone knows the answers to specific questions you might have, this is the place. :^) A cheat I've been using to visually sketch out some ideas for our hopefully-coming-soon tiki porch is to take photos of our space and Photoshop stuff in. The perspective suffers and it's not pristine and beautiful, but it's a quick 'n dirty idea-maker that works for me, and let's me "try on" several ideas. Just a thought. Good luck!
