Futura Girl has been taking very good care of me here in Vegas -- I'm getting the whirlwind tour for my very first visit. It all started when we hit the strip right after I arrived at 1am Thursday night (after spending the day at Disneyland getting my very first Annual Pass, no less). El Ranchito is coming along very nicely, and has some fantastic old-Vegas-inspired artwork by Futura's cousin, Cherry Capri. You can hear the screams of people on the rides at the top of the Stratosphere from the house. I've been in nearly every casino on the Strip, thanks to wonderful tour guiding by Futura, and last night by both Futura & hula hula.

Yesterday I went out alone during the day while the locals slept & hit Sunset Park to see one of the moai from Aku Aku, carved by Eli Hedley. It's great that it's been saved and given a place of honor, but it feels out-of-place over there. Then I visited Red Rooster, which was overwhelming. Tiki Lee's booth is great! I didn't get any tiki stuff, but I found a weird old lamp I like.

I've got a handful of pictures in my camera, but until I'm able to get my computer connected to the internet, I can't post them. hula hula's got a few from Taboo Cove last night. I went in there with very low expectations based on what I'd heard, but I thought it was okay. Not outstanding or anything, but not all that bad. We went there pretty early; the music was bad but not terrible, as it wasn't very loud. I had a Trader Vic's Grog, which was better than I'd expected it would be. If it were overrun by TCers, it would be a swell joint. I was thinking it would be cool if we could rig up wireless headsets for TCers to wear in places like this, so we could pipe in our own music from a central iPod or something.

Mahalo nui loa to Futura Girl for opening her home to me and showing me such a grand time. I think I'm gonna go hit some coasters today.
