Flounder... go marine on that tank... its not too hard... especially with hardy fish... Damsel fish... puffer, or even a triggerfish... I've been running a 20 gal reef (without inverts or corals) with a HummuHummu Trigger for the last 4 years... before that I had a full blown reef in a 20 high...
Granted I have a good filter... 400 gph Marineland Emperor ($180) but the tank almost takes care of itself once established... just keep water in it and check the salinity. You could probably get that going saltwater for $250 -$300...

Go to a good aquarium store... probably easy in Florida... they'll talk you through it... Colors on marine fish are unmatched by most freshwater fish... and coral in that tank will look sweet!
