Guitarist Ernest "Ernie" McLean, who performed daily at New Orleans Square in Disneyland for more than 30 years, passed away at the age of 87. He was the last person personally hired by Walt Disney, chosen to substitute for the banjo player in the newly-formed Royal Street Bachelors trio. Previous to his employment at Disneyland, he played guitar professionally for many years including with Fats Domino and played guitar on his first hit , “The Fat Man” in 1949.
