This soon-to-open jungle-themed outdoor restaurant in North Hollywood looks promising, like maybe a place to eat before hitting TikiNo or the Tonga Hut:
http://northhollywood.patch.com/articles/purple-monkey-former-rainforest-cafe-re-cast-as-reality-show-set-artist-s-paradise

"He described his vision of a "jungle paradise," where palm fronds lap over the roofs of the covered seating areas. He sees bamboo, banana trees, and lily pads in the pools where live koi fish will swim. Guests will relax to the sound of waterfalls, sitting in over-sized rattan chairs."

Sounds good, right? but this quote sent a chill down my spine: "Patterson gave his take on possible entertainment, being that Purple Monkey is an open space. "It would be strictly acoustic, like some guy with a guitar playing Jimmy Buffett... "Wasted Away Again In Margaritaville"... or Seals and Crofts, Simon and Garfunkel... we'll have to see what the public wants."

Nooooo! Apart from you clever artist/designer types who should be hitting this guy up with your carvings, bamboo and whatnot, all you exotica/surf bands really need to get together and convince him of the error of his ways. His is from Florida, after all.

It could be a great spot. Help make NoHo even more groovy. Please. Mahalo.
