Chris, On the La Linda house, It was last sold in 1992 so the records where up to date in this one instance
but you are completely right about public information (especially on older homes) being inaccurate

The best way to get the info you need is to find out who the Architect/Builder was (I know, Not an easy task)
And go from there.

My own home is listed as built in 1977, When in fact it was built in 1958
but I have a card up my sleeve here as my wife's Grandfather built many of the houses (including ours) in this area
in the 50s and knew why some design choices where made.
