Parrot advice needed - General Tiki

Anyway, while looking for Tiki-esque furniture, I happened upon a nice looking bird-cage. Inspired by the thought of the swearing parrot in the old London Mayfair Beachcomber bar, I bought it. Unfortunately, I later realised that I don't know the first thing about keeping such birds. So, has anyone got a parrot in their Tiki bar? Are they easy to keep? Is it considered mean to keep them in old-style cages where they only have room to perch and eat whatever parrots eat? Or are they happy to live in such conditions?
