Description:
Easily the highest TIPSY rate of any place, much less hotel, on the island of Oahu, or second only to the Polynesian Cultural Center. The Hawaiiana was small scale garden oasis, built in the 60s/70s. It was frequented by older, European tourists. Its rooms hwere more like dorm rooms. However, I think there were approximately six (6) 5-FT tall Tikis.
Even though it may have been converted into apartments or some other use, it has dodged the wrecking ball despite its prime location on Beach Walk. So far. Waikiki does not have much sentimentality for 2-story edifices, in this land of skyscrapers.
