The Japanese fad in Europe is one example (I was not aware of the critics noting its in-authenticity! :) ), and it seems the desire to take on "exotic" stylings from other countries began as soon as mankind became aware of "style": The ancient Greeks found Egyptian fashions and decor intriguing and copied them, for example. |
