does anyone know the origin of dark wood,(mahogany maybe) NEW ZEALAND , Maori carvings, Many with abalone eyes that Steve Crane used in most of his restaurants?
example;this one is 28" X 108"

or this;

OR the 6 FT. hard wood Maori Tiki like the one on page 98 of 'BOT'
Was this stuff done by generic "On staff type" carvers, or "imported in bulk type carvings", or was there a 'NAME' involved?
