A Genre-spanning Hot Jazz/Swing/Exotica/Hi-Fi/Noir/Spy game soundtrack from Michael Giacchino, the composer of the soundtracks to Pixar movies The Incredibles and Up, as well as Disney's Ratatouille, and the TV series "Lost" & "Fringe"."Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow" was a moderately popular Disney Nintendo & PC-based video game of the early-'90s, in which Donald Duck plays a hardboiled Private Duck, uh, Dick (and lets face it, no more than Medium-boiled) Maui Mallard, who, while on vacation on an un-named tropical island, falls into the mystery of who stole the natives' idol Shabuhm Shabuhm, pretty much literally because at one point the natives toss him into an active volcano. After gaining the natives' trust, and gaining the ability to turn into a Ninja (!) alter-ego named "Cold Shadow", you battle Zombies, rotting Ghost Pirates, flying blow fish, MudDrakes, and Amazon Warriors, moving from the creepy Mojo Mansion to the Underworld itself in order to find the lost idol and collect the promised reward. After you finally collect and return the idol Shabuhm Shabuhm to it's rightful owners the natives are so happy they decide to name their nameless island after you, although I don't really see how a tropical island named "Mallard" would attract any tourists. Although the game promised sequels, and even hinted at a "Maui Mallard" TV series, no follow-up ever materialized.
