The guy who made that, and is selling it, is our friend Mark. He owns a shop here in town, Right-On Futon. He originally made the mug for his "Futon Exotica" window display. His window displays / art installations are legendary. You can see a bunch on the Right-On website, http://www.rightonfuton.com/ Mark initiated and organized the first substantial Tiki event in Chicago– "Exotica 2000". The namesake of this summers Exotica 2003. It was centered around a cool Tiki art show. The mug also traveled (in the back of our van) to Toronto for Swizzle Gallery's "Savage City" Tiki show. They may still have images up on the Swizzle Gallery website, http://www.swizzle.ca/ Swizzle gallery was run by our friends Rob and Christine. I think many of you might really like Rob's art, check it out. Anyway, Mark's moving to Italy to attend a culinary school and is selling off many of his creations. If you like it, help him out and place a bid. |
