Nice first tiki! As the other guys said, carve deeper ... at least get under the bark layers to the much more solid 'woody' area. as for debarking, there are a few methods: Jeff likes to filet them with his chainsaw ....
Buzzy taught us all how to use the Ryobi planer to clean them up ....
My preferred method is the good old fashioned drawknife .... not as noisy as the other methods but a lot more work...
....... and if all else fails! ..... let loose the cat! It will get cleaned up eventually!
