Back to brushes and I chose a wood grain brush. The grain works best painted vertically.

As you can see in this closeup the wood grain effect is less than perfect. I tend to use this on image that are going be printed smaller. At a reduced size the grain looks pretty good. I have other things up my sleeve later on.

Again another digital only tool. In filters I went to Color Adjustment. So if after doing all that coloring and shading you have a dream that it would look better purple. Hey, don't start over, just adjust the hue and saturation settings.

How about a bluer look? No problem.

By just adjusting saturation I can make the colors stronger. But let's quite fooling around, get to the background.
