Here in California (where we have Lava fields from real volcano's, still dormant I hope, within a couple hours drive) I still will pay around $100.00 for about 4 medium sized Lava rocks! from the local building supply. This project looks to be a "Bat shit crazy good, but still insane, because it needs to be" build Hale Tiki! looking forward to seeing it come to fruition and love the "Aku Aku" choice, one of my favorites too.
