If I may TW~ That's a variation of a recipe that was done by The Food Network and isn't actually Elvis' official recipe (bacon/bacon drippings was never a component of the sandwich). Here it is in it's actual form: 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter *Combine (and mash) peanut butter & bananas. Makes 4 sandwiches. You will see some variations of the above recipe where they say to "place slices of banana on (peanut)buttered slices of bread. That's where the mistake comes in. You need to mash that banana with the peanut butter. And as for the quantity of butter? It's up to you, but Elvis didn't hold back on the butter, so you'll need lots. Be sure to watch your heat since it can burn. Believe me, these are REAL good! I recommend this book for the true recipes of Elvis. I have it, and it's pure Southern comfort food. The South knows how to cook up some damn good food! Looking at the recipes, it seems like just simple recipes, but if you follow the instructions to the 't', your mouth will be in for some real treats. Plus the book is only $8 (well spent if I may add). I picked mine up at the Elvis Museum in Las Vegas. Just my 2 "peanut butta & nanner samich" worth.
