Many will be as cheap or cheaper than a hotel and get you a lot more bang for your buck. On catalina, there is also Luau Larry's which has some tropical beverages. Right outside of the town towards the gardens there is a mexican food joint that does happy hour everyday. When we were there they had $1 tacos and cheap beers. We went every day we were there. There is a bike path too, from HB to Don's. You could always rent some bikes.
