I have a small Maori Tiki statue with a brass badge that reads " s.s. Monterey first sailing 1957"....any idea what it is? is it collectible? any interest? I live in Oregon

Matson lines made them available on their cruise ships....Monterey, Mariposa, Lurline etc.

You'll see them with different names and dates on the plaque. I'm not sure if they sold them on the ships or they were a give away.

I have a few, I've bought them as cheap as $5 and passed on them for $40 in antique stores.

Hope that helps.
