yea i get all of that but what im saying is...at one point there werent any tikis in the US. idols, statues, carvings.....and then there was. did beachcomber have tikis on opening day? did donn set that trend by having idols in his first establishment? thats what im trying to figure out. there had to be one person somewhere who said hey! you should put this guy somewhere over there in the corner and bam, there was a big tiki statue. someone somewhere had the be THE first to have a tiki in their bar/restaurant. maybe it started in a more private setting at someones home then carried over commercially? i dont know but i do know that there was a defining moment when tikis appeared in the states. but when and where was that moment? |
