Let us hope it is at least as good as "She Gods of Shark Reef".
Now that is not even a good Corman flic (and my DVD from Alpha Video is really sub-sub-quality, too), the poster and lobby cards are better than the film, promising more Tiki than there actually is:
"BEAUTIFUL MAIDENS RULED BY A HIDEOUS STONE GOD!"
And all you get to see (barely) is one and the same take of a Tiki submerged in murky muddy water....
But HALT! A closer look at his Tiki reveals: It is the SAME Tiki used for Martin Denny's FORBIDDEN ISLAND and the Mills Brothers GREAT HAWAIIAN HITS cover photos, (plus for the double page pin up in "Tropical Paradise" a men's nudie mag from 1961).
I suspect it was a Rent-a-Tiki from the famed ROSHU prop house in Hollywood.
On the subject of the "Erotic Tiki" flic: That director is known among fans of absolut bottom barrel budget soft core flics as a veteran of such, but to me, contemporary B-movies like that that are aware of their cult following are often too self-consciously silly, which doesn't work. It might be fun to MAKE them, but to BE funny, the filmmaker has to take himself and the project absolutely serious.
BigBro,
Look who’s back. I haven’t seen this “tiki” before but my search revealed that you were familiar with him. Why am I not surprised? looks like he’s constructed from cement/stucco and wood. I bought this strictly for the cover photo. I like almost all tiki’s and the shirts are pretty cool. Turns out the vinyl was pristine
