As a wheated bourbon, Maker's Mark won't be to everyone's taste. It's mellower and sweeter than a high-rye whiskey like Four Roses or Bulleit -- or even a traditional mash bill like Wild Turkey or Elijah Craig. But it's damn fine whiskey; one of the best examples of distilling prowess. (And as far as wheated bourbon goes, Weller and Van Winkle are both wheated, so it's not like it's a style of bourbon that's out of fashion.) David J.
