OK then, the truth about this mystery is.....Producer Gary Kurtz says
the original story has Luke's sister in being another woman altogether
and Luke & Leia were to have had a relationship that would be torn apart by the war
So Lucas really had no idea during the first movie, that Luke & Leia would become siblings
despite his remarks that all three movies had been written beforehand.
