We ended up taking home a little mask instead.

Years ago at an estate sale for a Garlic rancher in Gilroy California we also found that mask. He traveled the world and bought it back from PNG. It looks like our masks were made by the same artist/villager.

Your mask and ours was very sparce on top when it came to the cassowary feathers. On eBay I won an auction for a small cassowary feather wisk broom, hung on the wall to the right. I pulled out some of the feathers and stuck them into the top of our mask to restore it.

Congratulations on your find, we think it is one of the best PNG masks we have ever seen. Cheers, Wendy
