Here's a link to the Chicago Tribune Thursday April 24, 1969 article by Sally McCormick about Hoe King Lo Restaurant which was in Lincolnwood, Illinois approximately 10 miles north of downtown Chicago. Wayne C. Sit and his family owned and ran Hoe King Lo and the South Pacific Restaurant until they sold them and retired in the 1980s. You could enjoy a cocktail in the Tang Lounge which had "Oriental" drinks such as Virgin's Soulmate, Typhoon Tessie, Shanghai Lil, Navy Grog, or delicious Mai Tai. I'm including a picture of the Bumatay tiki mug from our collection which has "Hoe King Lo" stamped on the bottom. There is another post on TC which has a link about Mr. Sit's passing and mentions both these restaurants and the Bumatay Tiki Mug from the restaurant is also on Ooga Mooga. http://archives.chicagotribune.com/1969/04/24/page/147/article/cantonese-cuisine-at-its-finest This mug is for sale on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151445705073?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 [ Edited by: Madame Bong 2014-10-17 18:30 ] |
