I have had that problem. I just stick them in the closet in my Tiki Lounge rec room. The only one I haven't done that with is a giant ceramic drink dispenser shaped like a Tiki hut (see one here: http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Tiki-Hut-Beverage-Dispenser-Tapper-Jar-Monkey-Surfboard-2-Gallon/209771844?gpid=68416460701&gpkwd=&goog_pla=1&gclid=CICoxcXA5MICFWxp7AodG3cAZg). It's too big for the closet! It's hard to pull someone aside and tell them that, in the face of all the kitsch surrounding them in your home, that the kitsch they chose for you is in bad taste. Sometimes I have the opposite problem: One friend insisted on giving me a genuinely beautiful framed photo of a beach scene and a gorgeous ceramic sculpture of a whale from Oahu. I felt so badly that I finally did pull him aside and explain that his gifts actually were in too good taste for my Tiki Lounge! [ Edited by: Dr. Zarkov 2014-12-26 12:09 ] |
