Three Dots & A Dash is one of my faves. I do tweak the recipe, mine runs as: 1 oz lime Blended In comparison to Luna - I found comparing Taylors to homemade falernum, Taylors was preferable because it's got a lime & clove flavour without a lot of gingery zing. My homemade pimento dram is subtle, which can suit the drink too. Doubling the lime / orange / honey you get a bit more fruity flavours to work with so prevent the drink being quite small (with lots of ice). I spy in your picture the Clement in the back, IMO it's a bit light & if paired with El Dorado 12 it may have lacked punch (they are still both great rums) - you could alway try 50:50 agricole & demerara if you wanted it heavier. I favour the combos of Clement VSOP & LH151 or Saint James Rhum Vieux & El Dorado 8 (the LH151 heavies up the drink with Clement, the SJ Rhum Vieux is heavier itself). FYI, the Mai Kai SOS is a great tasting alternative if you don't like the agricole taste or don't have it on hand :) |
