Yeah, I guess Norah Jones is a pretty decent example. After I posted my rant, Lauryn Hill came to mind as well. I guess my point is it's hard to find legit performers like those mentioned. Aretha, etc. have become icons and for good reason. Even though there are a few cool female performers out there these days, I don't see them becoming icons, but who thought back in the 80s that Pat Benatar would become sort of iconic. With good reason also. It's just that those of the Britney ilk get all the attention and it's annoying.

Cybertiki...yeah how could I forget to mention Julie London. Very classy and sexy. I've just recently grabbed a few of her LPs at flea markets and such. In fact I found a mint, and I mean MINT copy of 'Julie Is Her Name' for $1 at the Salvation Army on Broward Blvd. down there in Ft. Lauderdale.
