Shipwreckjoey-

I hear you on the Russ Meyer. The thing about his approach is that he does in fact celebrate, not exploit. There is nothing faster and wilder than a great Russ Meyer flick, not even two GTOs dukin' out on the strip on a Saturday night. The praises of Mr. Meyer cannot be enough. He is truly an unsung hero of American Cinema. I guarantee you...all the great American directors of our time, Scorcese, Lynch, Coppola, you name it. They all love him, and owe him. I had the good fortune to go and meet Russ at his house in Palm Desert, CA and interview him a few years ago. That was not my initial quest for going to his home, but we did our best and got a great interview, and I will never forget it (there is a whole other story t this) Aside from his subject matter, the man is a true master of his craft. He was a cameraman in the army signal corp during WWII and knows how to use a camera. He was on the beach at Normandy filming!!!!!! In his words: "I loved the war, I didn't want it to end". He told me this.

He is probably on of the most colorful (for lack of a better word) people I have met in my life.

Should we start a thread on Russ Meyer?
