"Thanks bamalamalu. Not every one i make will have reused parts but i like the idea of finding something that gives me a base to start with."

Man found objects is what it's all about!
In the 1920s the Hawaiian souvenirs were made from coconuts, starfish and even palm fronds.
And many of the lights in the old tiki bars were made from old rattan trash baskets and
fish traps, Rattan hats ect.

Even the fish float was not made to be a light, It was for fishing.

If you can find something old is best as it's aged, also you get a three to four hour jump
on making your light as part of it is done for you.
Another good point is many times the found object is cheaper than buying and making the
thing yourself if you even could weave a basket yourself, I can't.

Cheaper, faster, aged = Win, Win, Win.
I do not reuse old electric parts as this is not good.
Why build a light and pack it with worn electric parts, not good.

Good one Swizz man!
