And a very cool little business card holder. I had seen this piece in the store a while ago and when i was in today its price had been reduced so i grabbed it. Visually the space in the middle looked too wide to fit a business card but when i got home i tried one in there and it fits perfectly. The heads are exactly the same carving and size as the S&P shakers above. The description on the bottom lists in order, the native to New Zealand woods used in the strip along the middle of the piece.

Made in Wanganui!!!! Sovereign Woodworkers was a firm based in the Wanganui suburb of Gonville from 1949 to 1992. They made various products featuring tikis for the tourist trade.

Here is a link to a profile of the company and its products: http://ketenewplymouth.peoplesnetworknz.info/sovereign_woodware

The old Sovereign Woodworkers factory (shown in the first B&W photo on that Webpage) is now the home of one of the local charity stores and I have made various tiki finds in that very building over the years.

Toto, j'ai l'impression que nous ne sommes plus au Kansas !
