I saw this tiki statue on Craigslist this past Friday. It was listed as made from an oak trunk. I called the guy and he said it was purchased from a carver in the Santa Monica mountains about five years ago. He said it has been outdoors for the past two years and is very weathered. I immediately made plans to pick it up.

I was going to sand it down but I decided to use a solution I use to clean up my bamboo. (1/4 bleach to 3/4 water). I used very fine sandpaper and then a clear coat. The Tiki is very heavy and will be stored out of direct sunlight.
