Wendy,
Deforest of California was a family owned ceramic company that was in business from the early 1950's till 1970 when they closed their doors. They made great cookie jars, chip and dip sets and ashtrays with that cool mid century drip glaze. (Contemporary of California Originals etc.) They were known for their cookie jars, but it was difficult to compete with much cheaper items coming from japan after the war. They closed early in 1970. They are vintage most likely from early 1960s, super cool find. I expect the little tiki lid tops got chipped or broken frequently.
