hang10tiki we thank you!

========================

One day a week we take a break from making tikis and go treasure hunting. Here are a few catch up photos from those excursions.

We went to a restaurant on Jiboom Street near Old Sacramento. There was a totem pole out front that had one face that looked tiki, the rest were wolves and eagles.

In this thrift shop there was furniture and records. Dan searched for an hour and came up with 12 albums and

these are those that were

South Pacific.

In Old Sacramento at Evangeline's I found these finger puppets that I will use as model when carving.

At Sears I was looking for big grained sand paper. I didn't find that but this wheel had a great texture for pressing into clay.

I was able to use a serrated knife to cut off pieces for use.

Here's a close up.

At a thrift store that was closing you could have an entire box filled for $5. Dan got a lot of albums and I bought a net.

After cutting off all the straps I will have plenty of net for hanging a mug on the frame of my black velvet painting for the next Tiki Oasis art show. Then the next one and the next one and the next one......

At another shrift shop we hit not gold but copper! From Chili.

A close up of the Moai.

We didn't start going to thrift stores until this past year. We now know that was a huge mistake!

Happy Hunting, Wendy
