I suppose that I'm obsessing about this, but we know that Kohala Bay is an Appleton product. Consider all of the dark rums that Appleton produces:

Appleton Gold
Appleton V/X (new name: Estate Signature)
Appleton Reserve (new name: Reserve Blend)
Appleton 12 Year (new name: Rare Blend 12 Year)
Appleton Estate 21 Year
Appleton Estate 50 Year
Coruba Jamaican Dark
Coruba Gold (European markets only)
Coruba 12 Year "Cigar Blend" (European markets only)

Somewhere in these rums, or blends thereof, lies the secret of Kohala Bay. Thoughts?
