I certainly understand the folks who want to protect the island from further commercialism. I went back to the beginning of this thread and looked at the photos. One thing is certain to me - if this place were to be rebuilt and resurrected, they are going to be able to use many of the modern materials which would be more durable and more attractive than what was originally used. We make so much architectural stuff out of color-impregnated PVC now, and it's heavier and better looking and more durable. I'm looking forward to seeing this place come back to life looking even better than it originally did.
