Thanks, all. Mike, that's essentially what I did. I didn't have time to fabricate a jig so I ended up clamping the hot skewers around the corner of a big plank of oak. I'm definitely making a jig if I need to bend more in the future. Here's a pic (of a pick) in situ with a Fog Cutter from last night's party:
