Jack's legacy and influence on The Mai-Kai's cocktails still loom large, and will be felt for a long time to come. A memorial was held Oct. 7 in his honor at Stevens Field in Oakland Park, where Jack used to play with the teams from The Mai-Kai and shared many good times. As Swanky points out, Jack was Mariano's hand-picked successor and the second head mixologist at The Mai-Kai. He was still making Mariano's secret syrups for The Mai-Kai until shortly before he died.
