Just plain black. Kinda cool in that state. If you watch those Antique shows, restoring can either decrease the value, or strangely enough increase the value. I've touched-up the paint on some old animal and devil figurines with nail polish and it works well. You have to have a steady hand. Those Sneaky mugs are rather common, so you should just do what you find aesthetically pleasing. My 2-cents....
