Cocktail habit question: floaters - Tiki Drinks and Food

But with that heavy Angostura float and five spice topping, it got me wondering ... what do most people do? Do you use a straw and let the float become an exciting little end to your journey? Do you skip the straw and get a little off the top with each sip? Or do you sacrifice that lovely layering and mix it all together for the sake of bold flavor? Just curious. I think I'm going with option 1 tonight.
