We love visiting in May because it seems like you're often 10-12 degrees warmer than we are, and your spring is a couple weeks ahead. It's the lake effect. Nobody thinks of growing anything up here before Mother's Day, and you're talking about crops that we wouldn't know until June at the earliest. Ramps make the best pesto. If all goes well and according to plan, we will have a new crop this year: yellow groove bamboo. The shoots are delicious!
