An example is this view of Mt. Hood and the Sandy River a few miles from my home and on the way to recycle glass at the Sandy Transfer Station. But enough of the travel log, I finished this mahogany piece. First a clear coat of varnish, then a medium brown with red into the deep recesses followed by a dark walnut and another clear coat. A found, home-made paddle that I thought needed a good carving. I would guess it was ash as it was very light colored and hard, but I stained it with an amber, mahogany, and dark walnut and added red and straw colored accents. I cut a six foot tall cedar log in half because my 66 year old body could not move the whole thing. It will have a cannibal theme which is always fun. [ Edited by: cy 2020-02-23 14:45 ]
