Introducing the TIKI TORCH. Made from two mugs and a hand built flame. I had the pieces so why not do it.

I cleaned up one mug and

then I added the top off another mug to the inside. I used slip to get rid of any air pockets.

Next I carved around the outside in preparation for making it look like bamboo.

I added clay to show the joints.

Once that was done I made a ring of clay to fuse to the inside

of the top. This will keep the flame sitting higher and give the option of using earthquake putty to keep it firmly in place.

I made a flame. Then I

cut off the bottom when it was firm so I could dig out the excess clay.

Once it was empty I

added a new bottom.

I cut off the tip and worked to fuse it inside and out.

I'm missing photos. These two pictures were taken before I put the ring inside to hold the flame higher.

I will show the better height when I'm glazing.

On a different day I cut two slanted holes for straws.

It's a big mug so it's best used for two.

May your day be full of light, Wendy
