Weekend budget tiki project! I've had this funky lampshade bouncing around for a good year now, nabbed at a charity sale for a buck or less if I recall. Last week, I finally found some material suitable for re-covering it - in the form of a women's blouse also had for a buck at the same charity sale. With the back panel cut free from the shirt, I laid out where to cut for maximum utility of the pattern. After some janky stitching (and honestly, what in tiki isn't janky in some small way) the shade is complete. Total cost: $2. I was told by a local lamp specialist it would take a month or more and upwards of $300 to have it redone professionally. BAH! Lit pics to follow! |
